Mirani Rotary Tagalong Charity Horse Ride
The Rotary Club of Mirani has announced that their popular Tagalong Charity Horse Ride and Bush Carnival will be held on Saturday May 12th.
“Concern for the safety of horses and riders has made us reconsider the route of the ride last year. For the past eight years the ride began from Melba House at Marian, travelled along Eungella Road to Mirani, then along Mt Ossa Road to Dows Creek Hall where the Bush Carnival is held,” said Ted Bussey, Mirani Rotary Community Service Director. “Together with the Breakaway Trailriders club members, who supervise the ride, we have mapped out a route for the ride this year which, still provides an exceptional experience for the riders while meeting our safety concerns. This route will continue for 2012”
The route will be a loop from Dows Creek Hall along Venton’s Road, Mt Ossa Road, Mt Martin Loop Road to Bussey’s Farm where the riders will stop for lunch. After lunch the ride will continue along Mt Martin Loop Road, Sugarloaf Road and Mt Ossa Road arriving back at Dows Creek Hall around 2.30pm where the Bush Carnival will be in full swing.
Riders are asked to muster at Dows Creek Hall by 9.00am for registration and pre-ride briefing at 9.30am.
A registration fee of $25 per rider is charged to cover insurance and entry to the ride, and participants are asked to obtain additional sponsorship which is donated towards Mirani Rotary charities. Since the inaugural ride in 2003, the Mirani Rotary Tagalong Charity Horse Ride and Bush Carnival has raised over $80,000 which has been donated towards Cancer and Heart disease research.
